Aviator LAX - Clash in Canton recap

Aviator Lacrosse had an exciting weekend in our first tournament ever!

Our High School team won the Clash in Canton JV division going 6-0 on the weekend outscoring opponents 54-10. They were down 4-0 at the half in the championship game and came back to win in sudden death overtime.

Aviator Black fought back to make the championship game and finished 2nd overall in the 2027-2028 division. They finished 3-3 on the weekend. Their three losses were only by a combined six goals. The Aviator Black team was particularly resilient as one of their players suffered a serious injury and the boys demonstrated support and care for their teammate and other teammates stepped in to fill his role. The player is recovering and we hope that he heals quickly and is back playing lacrosse soon.

Our Aviator Gold team played hard in the 2027-2028 division but finished the weekend 0-4. The coaches and I are proud of the effort our team showed with many kids playing in their first club tournament and since they consolidated the two divisions (2027 and 2028) into one division, many of our players were playing up against boys 1 or 2 years older. Our coaches have identified areas to improve, and we are looking forward to the NXT Grand Prix where we know their will be sufficient team numbers and our Aviator Gold team will play against age appropriate teams. We are adding Jake Holibaugh, an Assistant Coach at Louisville High School and former college Goalie at Bethany College, to serve as Assistant Coach for the Aviator Gold team. This will provide more targeted training to our goalies and defense, and free up time for the other coaches to work with our offense.

I am proud of our coaches and players and look forward to the rest of our summer program!
